Lysistrata: Personal Response

I found this play very interesting. It shows the power and influence women had even in ancient times. Lysistrata and the other women were able to use their beauty to influence the men in the war. I thought some spots were disturbing, but I believe that can be contributed to the original intended auidence. The Greek society was much more comfortable with sexuality than my personal taste. I think what the women did was very brave of them. Disobeying their husbands, and leaving their children was very dangerous. I also feel it was very clever of Lysistrata to come up with this plan, and be able to successfully execute it. She is a very powerful woman. She is able to control the women and convince them to follow her leadership.
